Heading Towards Scarborough And Beyond

The North Yorkshire Water Park can be found in Wykeham. With an aqua-park, zip-lines, climbing walls, wake-boarding, paddle-boarding and kayaking on the to-do list, you are certain to have an adventurous, if not wet, day-out. Seven miles beyond is Scarborough, a famous sea-side resort with sand, sea, amusements.  Another popular water-park, Alpamare, can be found here and also the oriental-themed Peasholme Park, complete with boating lake and voted the 6th best park in the UK.

For younger children, a trip to Playdale Farm near Filey is a must; here children can get up close and feed farm animals whilst also enjoying a huge soft-play barn, tractor-rides and other adventures.

Or for the more adventurous and enquiring minds, head North of Scarborough to the little-known cove of Hayburn Wyke for a spot of fossil-hunting.  Journey further up the coast through Robin Hood’s Bay, an old characterful smuggler’s cove, to another famous sea-side resort, Whitby, famous for its association with Dracula.

Climb and count the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey and if you dare, pay a visit to the spooky Dracula Experience before rounding the day off with some of the best fish and chips in Yorkshire.
