Established by a group of local residents, Pickering Town Community Interest Company or “PTCIC” is a social enterprise set-up to promote Pickering for the benefit of the town and all its residents.
Our Aim?
As a Community Interest Company, we are focussing on establishing Pickering as a destination from which to explore, with a key aim to improve outdoor activities and opportunities for both the local community and visitors. As a social enterprise, any profit we generate will go back into our community to improve our town, environment and our residents’ well-being.
With the launch of ‘Visit Pickering’, we hope to create an all-encompassing website and media campaign to support and promote our local businesses, however big or small, whilst show-casing the beauty of our town and the abundance of activities and events it has to offer. We hope, in turn, by providing this platform to stimulate growth in our area to make Pickering somewhere where both younger and older generations can fulfil their potential and continue living in the area that they love.
Primarily, as a Community Interest Company, our venture projects and aspirations include:
- Improving facilities in the town for our residents.
- Supporting and assisting local businesses.
- Promoting Pickering as a Green Tourism town by improving and promoting cycling, cycling routes and infrastructure around the town.
- Supporting projects in schools to teach young people how to cycle safely.
- Promoting the Circular Economy.
- Hosting larger social events around the town for the enjoyment of our community.
Pickering is a fantastic place to live with much to offer; as a community, let’s ensure it has an even greater future ahead of it.
How can you get involved?
None of the above will be possible without your input and help. As a Pickering resident ‘born and bred’, a newcomer to the town, local small business or stay-at-home mum running a cottage industry, we would like to engage with you and for you to share your ideas.
